Planning My 1:24 Patisserie: Upstairs

Deciding what to do with the second floor of my new 1:24 dollhouse was a challenge: I knew that I wanted to make the first floor a shop, but I couldn't decide how to design the second and third floors.

I originally assumed I would make the apartment of the shop owner. However, once I decided to a miniature Ladurée, the typical home-over-the-shop family business concept didn't fit anymore. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to continue to do something in the style of Ladurée rather than create the realistic apartment of someone who would have a 3 room apartment over a shop.

When I was doing my research, I saw some gorgeous pictures of Ladurée tea rooms that they use as restaurants, which made perfect sense to go upstairs from the pastry shop. In fact, as I realized with more research, that's exactly the arrangement that they have in one of their locations in Paris!

What to do with the top floor was still unclear. Then it hit me: I should dress the top floor as if it was a room in a Ladurée hotel, making a luxurious hotel bedroom and bath. This may not be enough rooms for a real hotel, but it gives an idea!

I'm in the midst of building the structure and adding in the flooring etc that needs to be put in before it's all put together. Hopefully I'll give an update of the completed structure soon!
