The Prodigal Miniaturist Returns
From ages 11-14, I was obsessed with miniatures. I read all of the magazines I could get my hands on, convinced my parents to buy me a dollhouse (or three) and visited miniatures shop after miniatures shop and every miniatures museum I could. I also started making cakes out of Sculpey, then other food, then clothes for dolls, then paintings for my miniature museum and dolls themselves.
Then came high school, and naturally studying and socializing with others my own age made miniatures fade away. I went to college, etc. and honestly, I lost interest.
I don't know how I decided to start back up again now. I think that decorating our apartment made me interested in the design side of dollhouses that I hadn't originally been as into and then I went on a deep Google/Pinterest/Etsy binge and ended up ordering a 1:24 dollhouse kit. These things happen.
Since then, I've been meticulously planning and organizing for my new, grown up dollhouse. 1:24 is a new scale for me, so I'm trying to get acquainted with what's out there! I'll be writing about my various plans and preparations on the blog as well as anything else that I make.
